Gorton’s promotion deal monitoring solution has helped it slash clerical hours, improve procedural compliance by the sales organization, and reduce deductions by hundreds of thousands of dollars. Now the company is seeing similar advantage at King & Prince Seafood, the food service business it acquired in 2005. Read more...

Case Study: Microsoft Xbox Upgrade

Responsible for the graphics processor unit that drives the Xbox 360® video game and home entertainment system, the Silicon Operations (SiOps) group at Microsoft coordinates a complex supply chain that includes many suppliers and contract manufacturers. SiOps worked with Microsoft® Certified Partner Kineticsware and Microsoft Gold Certified Partner Sonata Software to upgrade its Microsoft Dynamics™ AX business management software. The partners used the Microsoft Dynamics Sure Step Methodology to facilitate collaboration across geographies and time zones, resulting in a seamless transition that preserved extensive custom integrations. The updated Microsoft Dynamics AX implementation provides enhanced reporting and alerting features to help with supply chain management and financial tracking, as well as simpler inclusion of new vendors and suppliers into the supply chain.

Supply Chain: smaller companies can miss out on benefits

When businesses talk about improvements in the supply chain, they tend to be larger enterprises celebrating their own successes.

Managers of smaller companies could be forgiven for thinking they bear an unfair proportion of the costs of a supply chain project, yet enjoy few of the benefits.

Even the language used – talk of supply chain or RFID (radio frequency identification) “mandates” – reinforces the notion that supply chain efficiency gains are at the expense of, rather than to benefit, smaller businesses. The high cost of some supply chain technologies does little to help.

Microsoft Corp.'s Worldwide Partner Conference in July has opened a new set of opportunities for its vast partner network. Regarding its first hosted CRM offering--Dynamics Live CRM, code-named Titan--Microsoft confirmed the delayed third-quarter launch along with initial pricing and vertical templates. The company also revealed a February 2008 debut for its next wave of enterprise products: Windows Server 2008, Visual Studio 2008, and SQL Server 2008.

Kineticsware: Making Dynamics AX Go Upscale

Historically, Microsoft has had limitations on how it sells to medium-sized supply chain-intensive companies that require industry specific applications, extensive services, and customer hand-holding -- Kineticsware plans to change that.

Kineticsware launches in Europe with UK customer win

TCSJOHNHUXLEY, a UK-based global manufacturer of gambling equipment has chosen Kineticsware to project manage and architect a Microsoft Dynamics AX solution for manufacturing, warehouse management, service and rental management, financial management and CRM.

Founded by several former Microsoft Dynamics AX senior executives, Kineticsware has a dual purpose, acting as a software developer and as a hub for other Microsoft partners. It has a three-strand business strategy: developing vertical specific functionality on top of the Dynamics AX suite using the .NET framework; delivering a consistent implementation tool set, methodology, and training for use by its own people and the partners it hopes to recruit; and generating leads for its partners.

Microsoft Sets Server Date

Microsoft critics have often charged the Redmond, Wash-based company for pre-announcing products, delaying launch dates, waffling on launch times, and missing several key product release dates.

With the upcoming launch of Microsoft's server software portfolio, times may be changing. Today, at its annual Worldwide Partner Conference, Microsoft stuck its neck out and promised that Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 and Visual Studio 2008, its next generation of service-based applications, will be released in Los Angeles on Feb. 27, 2008.
